LESSON: The Faith Chapter
Defining Faith
By faith we understand that the worlds were framed by the word of God, so that the things which are seen were not made of things which are visible. Hebrews 11:3 NIV
"In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth. Now the earth was formless and empty, darkness was over the surface of the deep, and the Spirit of God was hovering over the water. " Genesis 1:1-2 NIV
God has always been here, but the planet earth that we currently inhabit used to be nothing. It was without form. Our Creator, God, spoke the world into existence.
And God said, "Let there be...

Genesis 1:6-8
3rd Day -- Land & Seas
Genesis 1:9-10
4th Day -- Sun, moon, stars
Genesis 1:11-19
5th Day -- Fish & Birds
Genesis 1:20-23
6th Day -- Animals & "created man in His own image"
Genesis 1:24-31
7th Day -- God rests from His work; His work is finished.
Genesis 2:1-3
God saw all that he had made, and it was very good. Genesis 1:31
I remember in my high school biology class when we began the unit on evolution, the teacher told us we could not talk about our religious beliefs. I loved biology and it was the science class that I excelled in, but I had a problem with evolution. It made more sense to me that a Creator was responsible for everything that lives, breathes and moves on this earth.
This world that we live in encourages us to think of God as a myth or a story. The bible is the word of God and Our Creator knows all about us. God said, "Before I formed you in the womb I knew you. (Jeremiah 1:5)" That means he knew how you would look, about your childhood, your failures and weaknesses, your career calling, your relationships... HE KNEW YOU...when you were nothing, not in existence.
If He can create the world out of nothing, surely he can turn our sorrows into joy, stress into peace, pain into healing, and hatred into love. We only need to have faith.
For the things which are seen are temporary, but the things which are not seen are eternal. 2 Corinthians 4:18
