The Harbor Light
by Eric Walls
High above the ocean, on a cliff overlooking a harbor, stood a little lighthouse who loved to watch the world go by. He always had to keep his light shining for the safety of the boats. But, what would happen if he suddenly decided to turn his light off? The boats would be all right-wouldn’t they? The Harbor Light is a warm and charming story about a lighthouse that questions his purpose and faces fears, loneliness, rejection, and even danger! Through the guidance of the gentle lighthouse keeper, the lighthouse learns some very valuable lessons. Kids will immediately identify with the lighthouse’s feelings-and they will learn from his experience that God needs us to be faithful . . . even when we don’t want to!

Am I Trusting?
by Jeannie St. John Taylor
Erik—a realistic and engaging character—returns in this hilariously illustrated book that convinces kids that God can be trusted. Despite falling in the creek and slopping hogs—the awfulness, stinkiest, scariest job on the farm—Erik learns to face his fears and trust God . . . he even finds that the thing he fears most may actually be a lot of fun.
REVIEW FOR PARENT:
Erik goes to his Aunt Laurel’s farm for a visit. Being away from home Erik discover new and scary things (thanks to cousin Sloan). While his fears overwhelm him he decides to trust in God. This was a delightful book because it taps into how children think and overemphasize fears. Parents are given great instructions on how to use the book with their child. The illustrations by the author are cute and right on point! – aKidzfaith
